The Project

With various factors affecting the production and extraction of oil, Allenwest identified that there was an opportunity to benefit from a major investment in offshore oil and Gas by the UAE government via its operating company, ADNOC.
Their plans included introducing unmanned wellheads. These technical demands of unmanned offshore oil rigs/wellheads led to the development of a unique Ring main power supply system for oil rig clusters, enabling remote control from a centralised onshore location.

The compact design of the flameproof ring main unit facilitates the use of smaller unmanned well head towers. Such towers are far more economical to produce, more efficient and easier to install. Their operation is safer as the rigs are unmanned and the flameproof equipment is inherently safe. The central on shore control centre has real time monitoring of the equipment and operations 24/7/365.
This was an ongoing project involving a high level of development working closely with both end user and contractors alike. Overall, 42 of these innovative Ring Main Units have been installed in both Zakhum and Umm Shaif oil fields off the coast of Abu Dhabi
Since then, the initial phase of the project has been successfully completed with more than 30 wellheads in operation to date. The potential in UAE for this project alone is in excess of 250 wellhead towers B&F also providing highly trained support engineers to commission and maintain the ring main units.
